What does the Island Farm Development include?

  • A 15,000 seater stadium for Rugby League and Rugby Union satisfying the demanding requirements of Regional and Super League rugby. The stadium will also include the very best facilities for home and visiting supporters. It will have bars, corporate & conference facilities and house administration offices.
  • A 5,000 seater stadium for the Bridgend Ravens currently playing at brewery field.
  • A Sports Centre which will include an indoor swimming pool, 2 indoor sports halls and squash courts.
  • A 4G (artificial turf) Indoor Training Pitch.
  • A state of the art Tennis Centre with facilities to international competition standard and including 9 indoor courts and 10 outdoor courts.
  • Boxing Centre – following the recent international success of welsh boxing, it has become a high profile sport with many young followers. The new facility will provide a permanent home for Bridgend Boxing Club and will provide training facilities of a professional standard.
  • A 2,000 seater football stand.

  • A major part of the site, over 40 acres, is to be allocated for a nature conservation area to enhance the wildlife already in the area, which includes dormice, various species of bats and birds. It will include a ‘Dormouse’ bridge spanning over the new site access road from the A48. This is to ensure the continuity of the hedgerow network link from the north east to the south west of the site is maintained.
  • ‘Hut 9’ – the only remain building of the World War II prisoner of war camp, with Grade II Listed Building Status is to be retained.
